In Alberta, the requirements related to residential tenancy agreements and notices are set out in or prescribed under the Residential Tenancies Act and other provincial legislation.

| Application to Rent | Gather information for evaluating a prospective tenant and conducting a credit check. |

| Rental Agreement (short) Rental Agreement (long) | While tenancy or rental agreements can be oral, it is usually in your best interests to complete a rental agreement. The agreement should be signed by both the landlord and the tenant. Once signed, the terms of the agreement can not be changed unless both parties agree. |
| Inspection Report | Complete with your tenant at the commencement and end of a tenancy period. Attach to the rental agreement. Note that if you do not conduct an inspection at the beginning or the end of tenancy, you can not legally deduct anything from a security deposit for damages that go beyond normal wear and tear. |
| Notice of Landlord (individual tenant) | Use if your rental agreement does not include the landlord's name, address and physical location in Alberta or when one or more of those elements changes. |
| Notice of Landlord (Post in building) | If the landlord's particulars change with respect to the landlord's multi-unit building, the landlord may provide a notice to each individual tenant or post a notice in a common and visible area of the building. |
